VCXO (short for voltage-controlled crystal oscillator is a crystal oscillator whose output frequency changes in direct proportion to the application of an input control voltage.
TCXO (short for temperature compensated crystal oscillator) contains a sensor that adjusts the output frequency to compensate for variation due to ambient temperature effects on the crystal, used as a frequency reference that is one or two orders of magnitude more accurate than uncompensated XO.
OCXO (short for Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) is a technique used for avoiding temperature changes that affect the resonance frequency of a piezoelectric crystal. This is the highest precision quartz frequency reference available. |
